Know Yr Rights - January 2, 2008

Are you one of the 58 million Facebook users? Before you give the rest of your identity away, consider Ari Melber's article in the new issue of The Nation (January 7/14, 2008). Melber reports the sobering facts: "everything that people post is automatically licensed to Facebook for its perpetual and transferable use, distribution or public display." That means . . . well, use your imagination. You don't need a lawyer to know which way the wind blows.

Hammer Time - September 9, 2007

Best guitar player in the world? Bill Kirchen was the other night at Jack of the Wood in Asheville. Rockabilly, honky tonk, blues, Dylan, all delivered with wit, panache and jaw-dropping virtuosic vision. Whew!

By the way, Kirchen plays the first guitar solo (a scorcher!) on The Carpenter Ants' recording of "Go Where I Send Thee," which A-Tone included on our holiday music compilation Yo, Humbug!. It's one of A-Tone's proudest career moments!
